In 2014, one of the ISTD Student Assessment briefs was to gather a complete knowledge about one single thing, and to make it accessible in a digital or printed publication. Rachael took the opportunity to dive into medical research and construct a patient-friendly publication about Australia’s most common genetic disorder, Haemochromatosis.

The publication was met with positive feedback from patients, being shared around at a Melbourne meet-up for Haemochromatosis Australia, and medical professionals such as Professor John Olynyk. The content was informed from research papers and available material, as well as notes accumulated from lectures given by Professor Lawrie Powell, Professor Martin Delatycki, and Professor John Olynyk among many others.
